We’re back with another Meet the Four Oaks Team post. Today, we’re introducing you to our newest team member, Jessica! Jessica is one of our wedding and event coordinators and brings an upbeat energy to our team!
How long have you been working at Four Oaks Manor?
I joined the team in late June 2021, so about three months now!
How did you start working at Four Oaks Manor?
My story is one a lot of recent grads and young professionals can identify with. In 2020, I had to move back to Atlanta from Orlando as a result of Covid. I had been interning with Disney Signature Experiences in Orlando, and I was devastated to have my career derailed. I spent over a year trying to find my next step, but specializing in the tourism and event industries made things tough. I enjoyed the organized and detail-oriented nature of event planning, so I decided to take a leap of faith and apply for an event planner position here even though I had never imagined myself as a wedding planner. About a month later, I signed on and started training with the other coordinators. People always say everything happens for a reason, and that proved true for me!
Can you explain your role with Four Oaks Manor?
I am one of the Event and Wedding Coordinators. I meet with clients to determine their needs and vision for the event, and then I work with our team of set-up coordinators and servers to make it happen. I am also responsible for our Instagram account, so if you have any post topics you’d like to see in the near future, let us know in the comments!
What is your favorite part of your job?
Honestly, the people! From interacting with management to the other coordinators to our servers, I quickly felt like part of the team and supported during the learning process. I think everyone’s positive attitude and dedication to a set of high standards is what makes our venue special. I know that the work I do here is something to be proud of, and I can feel satisfied with every event that goes well. I also love meeting clients with different cultures or experiences than mine and being able to incorporate individual personalities into each event.
What do you like doing outside of work?
Learning! I love learning new things or dusting off old skills. Right now, I’m learning Mandarin through Duolingo (yes, that app with the owl), practicing yoga to get back into dancing shape, and exploring the Atlanta food scene with friends! I also enjoy watching foreign dramas or music videos when I need a chill day.
What is one piece of advice you would give to couples getting married at Four Oaks Manor?
Don’t sweat the details – that’s what we’re here for! At the end of the day, minor details may make everything photo-ready, but guests are more likely to remember the overall experience. You and your guests won’t remember the exact color of the napkins or how many flowers were in each bouquet; you’ll remember the ambiance these pieces created and those moments that make for fun little stories in the future. You’ll remember everyone laughing together and the feeling of looking your loved one in the eyes as you say, “I do.” So focus on enjoying the experience, the smiles, and the celebration that each event represents!
