We’ve got a new series on the blog: Meet the Four Oaks Team! First up, we’ve got none other than Morgan, our Business Development Manager. Morgan joined Four Oaks Manor at the end of 2016 when she started as a server and has been with us ever since.
How long have you been working at Four Oaks Manor?
I started working at Four Oaks in September of 2016. This September will make it 5 years.
How did you start working at Four Oaks Manor?
I called Randy, who at the time was the owner, and asked if they were hiring. He told me to send my resume to the manager at the time for a server position. I did, and they called me in and hired me as a server. I served for September, October, and November and then became a coordinator in December. I coordinated for all of 2017, and then I took on the marketing in 2018. At the end of 2018 I took on the leads/sales aspect of the business, and then Four Oaks was purchased from Jenny & Mickey in December of 2018. I continued to coordinate through the years as I took on more responsibilities, and in 2020 I became the business development manager.
Can you explain your role with Four Oaks Manor?
My title is Business Development Manager, but I wear many hats. I consider myself to be a coordinator, salesperson, manager, marketer, server when needed, and pretty much any other position that Four Oaks holds.
I enjoy wearing many hats because it means that every day is different. I like to stay busy and with a small business, it makes it easy to stay busy when you take on multiple roles. I also like to be a well-rounded person, so taking on new responsibilities and challenges has always been attractive to me.
What is your favorite part of your job?
My favorite part has changed many times over the years. My current favorite part is the “sales” aspect. I enjoy keeping track of the numbers and stats, and the artform of forming relationships with new clients.
What do you like doing outside of work?
I climb twice a week. I enjoy staying active. I played soccer through school, so generally, I enjoy playing and participating in most sports.
What is one piece of advice you would give to couples getting married at Four Oaks Manor?
Don’t be too concerned with the little details. Four Oaks takes care of so much for your wedding so that you can have a stress-free day. Enjoy it! Don’t get too caught up with those little details that you and your guests won’t remember years down the road.
Any random facts about yourself you want to share?
I am a pretty low-key person, so I don’t think I have any random facts. I eat pickles way more than I should and counted 9 jars of pickles in my fridge the other day when I was cleaning it out. Apparently, I like to buy pickles every time I am at the grocery store, but then never fully finish the jar.
