Whether it’s your 1st, 10th, or 50th wedding anniversary (or even your 7th or 32nd), every anniversary is worth celebrating. That’s why we’ve put together some wedding anniversary party themes along with a few game ideas to give you inspiration for your next anniversary!
“We Still Do”
If it’s your first wedding anniversary, you may be wanting to celebrate with your closest friends and family members. After all, you’ve successfully made it through your first year together! To celebrate, throw a “We Still Do” party! Consider keeping it simple with champagne and hors d'oeuvres. If you saved the top of your wedding cake, you can even do another “cake cutting ceremony” in celebration. I mean, really, who can turn down cake? Plus, you can even find funny “We Still Do” cake toppers to top it all off.

Gifts By Year
Did you know each anniversary has its own special gift based on how many years you’ve been together? It’s been a tradition dating back to the Middle Ages. If you’re looking for a specific theme for your anniversary, consider matching the theme to that year’s gift. For example, if it’s your 5th anniversary, gifts are supposed to revolve around wood, so stick with a wooden or rustic theme for your party. Wine or spirits are traditional gifts for the 17th anniversary, so throw a party with your favorite cocktails, or even try hosting a blind wine tasting party. See the full list of anniversary gifts by year and have fun throwing your own twist on it!
“Popped”
Years ago, he popped the question. Now, still going strong, celebrate the start of it all with a “popped” themed party. Pop open your favorite champagne. Put together a popcorn bar with tons of different flavors and mixes, from sharp cheddar flavored popcorn to popcorn bark. As party favors, leave your guests with party poppers filled with confetti or fun treats.

Remembering Your Wedding
For a bigger milestone, maybe your 10th or 25th anniversary, it’s a fun idea to theme the party around your wedding. Match the colors of the party to those you had in your wedding. Decorate the space with photos of your wedding day. See if you can find a local baker who can remake a smaller version of your wedding cake. Get your entire wedding party together and reminisce over the past years and see how your lives have changed since then.
Golden Party
It’s time for the big one. While each anniversary is special, your 50th anniversary holds extra meaning and significance. After all, it is called the “Golden Anniversary” for a reason. Go all out on this anniversary with a “golden party.” Decorate with gold balloons, gold paper fans, or golden table decorations.

Game Ideas
Once you’ve decided on a theme, you might be wondering what you’ll actually be doing at your anniversary party. Games are a great way to spend some of your time. Here are a few fun games you can do!
  • Printable games such as ‘He Said, She Said’ or ‘How Many Kisses?’
  • Anniversary Bingo
  • Ring Toss

I like that you suggested thinking about the colors theme that we had for our wedding in the past when deciding on what to go for our anniversary. My husband and I plan to look for party decor rentals because you wanted to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary together with our family and friends. It will be a great way to renew our vows and recreate the celebration after many years have passed.
