Ok, so let's be honest - it's not hard to let all the little details of wedding planning overwhelm you. Wouldn't it be so much easier if you knew what your guests were not even going to care about so you could avoid those areas altogether? Luckily, I’m here to help you out with that. Here are the top 5 things your guests don’t give a flip about!
Wood sign as wedding ceremony program with print and calligraphy for songs, couple's names, and other wedding details
1. Invitations and Programs: It is so exciting to pick out your wedding invitations and imagine your families’ reactions as they open this beautifully crafted piece of mail. They oooh and ahh over it for a few minutes, might even put it on the refrigerator for a couple of months, and then the time will pass and it ends up in the trash. Same thing goes for ceremony programs. They can be beautiful for 5 minutes and your guests will skim over them, but just the same, after the ceremony they will all get tossed. A wooden sign such as this might be a great option to opt for if you’re seeking a less expensive program that still speaks to your wedding style. For invitations, try taking the online route by creating a custom wedding website.
2. Your Guest Book: I am a big fan of non-traditional guest books. Opting for something you can display in your home instead of a book you'll never open is such a creative idea! However, it's not totally necessary to go over the top with it. I had about 200 guests attend my wedding, and looking at my guest book now, it has about 75 signatures on it… So before you go and buy this super fancy canvas off Etsy, maybe keep in mind that most of your guests won't even notice it.
3. Favors: It can be easy to want to have the most beautiful and unique wedding favors. You think your guests will take this item home and think of you every time they look at it. False. Most of your favors won't even get taken and you'll end up with 100 extra little items to take home at the end of your wedding! If you really want favors, a great alternative is to only have some for your immediate family and bridal party. These are the people that were heavily involved in your wedding and might actually want a little reminder of how great the day was.

4. First Dance: OK so let’s step back - your first dance IS important. It is so beautiful to watch you dance for the first time as a married couple. However, what your guests don't really care about is if you have this advanced choreographed dance. Your family and friends will not notice if you spent 4 months creating this perfectly timed dance, so please do not stress yourself about it. Just relax and enjoy this special moment you get to share.

5. Cake: Wedding cakes are expensive! They are huge tiers of beautifully crafted desserts decorated with designs and florals, which are absolutely beautiful to look at, but which normally will not leave a lasting impact on your guests. What your guests really want is a tasty treat in the evening to snack on while they dance the night away. Hosting a dessert bar of some of you and your fiancé's favorite treats is a great alternative to having an extravagant cake.
So there you go! Your guests won’t care about as many of the small details as you might think. At the end of the day, they’re there to have a good time and celebrate you and your fiance tying the knot! Readers who liked this also liked Wedding Day Timeline!
