We all know weddings can be costly, so any area where you can save some money is a lifesaver. At our wedding venue we have a relationship with Lauren’s Floral Art, and they have taught us a thing or two about how to cut back on the expense for your centerpieces.

First, there is the debate between whether or not you should have real or artificial flowers at your wedding. For some people, they know for a fact which type they want, and for some couples this is a struggle.  I have had a lot of relatives go the artificial flower route for all their bouquets, boutonnieres, centerpieces, corsages, etc. Even though fake flowers can still look pretty when you make them yourselves, they may not compare to the look of real flowers at your wedding. To learn more on choosing between real and artificial flowers, read our blog post which gives more insight and tips to help you choose which route is right for you.

If you are leaning towards using real flowers for your wedding, then here are several ways you can save money on florals.
  1. Make sure to choose flowers that are less expensive. There are flowers that are more extravagant than others so choose the flowers that will get you the look you are going for without the outrageous cost. Baby’s breath are great flowers that are pretty, not too expensive, and add a cute touch to your wedding. If you want a lot of flowers throughout your wedding but want to save money, then consider having baby’s breath to decorate the aisle and/or tables.
  2. Repurpose flowers. You do not have to have separate arrangements for everything. Repurpose your bridesmaid’s bouquets and bridal bouquet as centerpieces for the reception. There is no reason to buy both bouquets and table arrangements if you don’t need to. Also, if you decide to use flowers for aisle markers then repurpose those arrangements for table centerpieces as well. Try to get as creative as possible when it comes to your floral arrangements in order to save the most amount of money you can.
  3. Mix it up. Not every table has to have floral arrangements or the same exact floral arrangements. You can use wood slices, lanterns, tea lights, candles, bottles, and more to mix up each table. This will save you more money in the end. Half your tables could have the re-purposed bouquets, and the other half could have different décor that still blends to your theme and color scheme. Make sure that if you do decide to have different centerpieces that they all flow together. Consider having one décor item the same on each table, like a wood slice, in order for all the tables to tie together nicely and elegantly.
  4. Keep it simple but elegant. Centerpieces are an important part of your reception, but they do not have to be something you spend a ridiculous amount on. People are going to remember the wonderful time they had at your wedding, not what kind of centerpieces you had. There is a way to have simple centerpieces while still being elegant. See if your venue has any simple but elegant centerpieces you can choose from.
  5. Plan ahead. This tip is universal in every step of the wedding planning process. Get a head start on what type of style you would like for your centerpieces. If you want a certain type of décor on the tables then research all your possible options to buy/rent those pieces. Save yourself money by allowing yourself plenty of time to research your best options. I guarantee if you plan ahead in any aspect of your wedding, including deciding on centerpieces, you won’t regret it.

I hope this blog post was helpful in your wedding planning process. We all want to save money so take a little time to research, plan, and keep it simple. Comment below if you have any questions for us, we would love to help you in your wedding planning process.
